Hi everyone, i completed the soundtrack to this lovely film, which just showed atInternational Film Festival Rotterdamwhilst working at the worm sound studio in july 2012.
We invited the Lemuriformes to do a residency and presentation at worm. Allthough their starting point did not sound very rock n roll to our ears (Improvisation through oscillation) it turned into a very interesting project with a great live event at the end. It was about noise & electronics, improv strategies & interdisciplinary interactions.
Some background; Lemuriformesis an improvisationproject ofJulieDassaud(FR),EliadWagner(IL), Roel van Doorn (NL) and Laurens vander Wee(NL).It is a 'mixed media' project in whichaudio-visual livecoding, painting and electronicEclecticaare used.The weekof June 18to June 23they were guestsinWORM and worked on a new piece that was presented live last sunday (june 24h).
Their starting point; Musical movementhas its origins infeedback.We are talking about'feedback' between systems (human systems, disciplines, digital, analogsystems, etc.), tools, video, contact microphone onJulie'spens.
At all levelsoscillations(oscillations/ vibrations) cause new actionsthat resonatein theconnections between the partsand people whocompose the system. The resultis an aestheticand challengingmix of disciplinesand techniques.

till the very end we keep our studio operational. this week sonology student marinus is investigating some of the possibilties of the serge, and he's orientating on working out some of his plans regarding using SuperCollider and AC-Toolbox to trigger some of the synths, and producing an algorithmic composition.
Last week we welcomed Noriko in our studio where she dug in for a full week experimenting with a lot of the synths, recording tons as she plans to make a new album.

The past week the studio was packed with people and gear: Dutch group Distant Drummers rehearsed and recorded a whole week long. Some tracks will be on display here soon. Have a look at the preview movie.
WORM Presents, yet another workshop, this one held a few months ago, and was very well received by the participants. It was called the Home Swinger D>I>Y workshop, done by Yuri Landman. The movie was done by Maria Botella.
Part two of our workshop for kids is underway. About thirty kids participate each time and listen to an artist (a mini concert and a story on his music) and make a track in our analogue studio with the aide of Radboud Mens. The artist this week is MachineFabriek.
This project is a cooperation with SKVR.

The WORM radio/studiocrew were busy traveling, doing live horspil in linz, brno and vienna (at the MQ and ORF radio). we were especially happy to find out that alan ginsberg is still alive. (in more then 1 entity). Here's the place we played in BRNO, Skena Louka...

The final version of the radioplay was done at ORF Kunstradio and broadcasted the same evening. It was very well (live-)mixed by the ORF technicians. And of course, we stupid peasants were flabbergasted by the luxuries of the ORF Radioplay Studio. Except the usual stuff (great mics, 5.1 surround, very expensive looking HD recording gear) the pebbles path was out favorite...

THE WORM RADIO SONG POEM RADIA SHOW DECEMBER 2010
This show consists of a number of songs that were made by the Radio WORM Song Poem Crew at the STRP Festival in Eindhoven (november 2010). The theme was '80ties cassette culture' and the idea was that the audience could choose a genre from a menu, write a text, pay 3 euro's, and then the Radio WORM Song Poem Crew would make the song with 'original' 80ties gear (the most advanced device being a 4track cassette machine), hence the 'vintage' sound qualities of the pieces. The song was delivered within a short time (5 - 30 minutes) to the client on cassette tape. The available genres on the menu were; Depressing Lo Fi Noise, Boring Art Shit, Early Happy Commodore, Gay Budget Beats, Industrial SM Love Songs, Echoïstic Melancholia Dub, Fucked Up Cassette Hardcore and Incredible Cheap Casio-Pop. There were 19 songs made in a few hours, the best of them you'll find here. Text subjects vary from ode's to leaving colleague's, the impossibilities of having a love affair where one lives in Eindhoven and the other in Amsterdam, Statements about Radio Art, a Monty Cantsin Neoist Song and lots of boring and horrible poetry. Also in progress is a big STUDIOworkshop held in cooperation with SKVR involving live music and studio recording for kids.
Stu came to work a couple off days again, and made several highly likable and instructive movies, and left us with 2 very nice tracks, still in developping stage, but nonetheless, check out the ems putney track, awesome sounds!
He's working together with a collegue, Eliad.
We were glad to host this interesting collective from Brussels, who will with the material generated at the studio produce a radioplay for our ongoing Horspil series.
Soundartist and composer from Australia, Colin Black, worked in the studio for a week, creating a long piece, multitonal, mikrotonal and extremely layered, mainly working with the ARP 2600. Its a piece resembling the musical effects of short wave radio interference.

Working this week to get some samples and soundscapes maybe to be used in the WORM feature film CTRL_ALT_ESCAPE, Jade is having a go at the ARP 2600 and 2500 and the EMS.
At work this week is Philippe Aubin-Dionne aka Hovatron. A Lowrider invite, working here on some mixes, to be released later this year for the Lowriders rec label.
Here he's using the (AS) concussor, arp 2500, korg and a sequencer in a cv chain. Big Fun.

The idea behind this workshop is to produce a professional radio play within a period of 3 weeks. During the production phase, the participants will have access to the studio facilities of WORM including the use of vintage and digital synthesizers, samplers, microphones, hard-disc recording and professional peripheral equipment. The participants will form crews and cooperate in creating the play.
Felix Kubin is a composer, radio-playwright and performance artist from Hamburg.
well yes stupid things happen. one of our guests pulled out a cable from the patchbay and the tip of the plug stays in. The Tweezers didnt help. We will have to remove the unit part at some later date.
