We made a little video of Tom at work in the studio but it mysteriously dissappeared from our HD. So we stole a picture of his website from a series of photo's called 'likeminds'. We're not sure it's Tom posing here but it really looks like him.

Michael Morley, Sarah Stephenson & Nina Canal

In the second week of august Michael Morley (the Dead C), Sarah Stephenson & Nina Canal (ex-UT) used the WORM studio to work on several things, one being a conceptual Cornelius Cardew Piece 'The Tiger's Mind' and they also got to record a lot of other new material.
'The Tiger's Mind' was originally played with a fourth member, Nadia Lichtig, in Paris for a Cornelius Cardew festival

It's an interesting piece, so i asked them for some more information about it.

Christoph Kurzmann im WORMstudio

Christoph Kurzmann ('citizen of the world' -living in Berlin, Vienna & Buenos Aires, musician, organiser, founder of the charhizma label) visited the WORM studio in the first week of august to work on some new stuff and also to make preparations for a by WORM curated radioplay about the Financial Crisis he is gonna finish in Argentina next month. And here he is, relaxed behind the mixing desk, the Enigmatic & Prolific Mister K.!

return of the mix sequencer model 1050

It was out of order for a long time but now look at this little work of artistry done by james. replacing all the original ivory white stylish seventies plastic buttons with these no nonsense black leds, glued mind you, so we don't have to pick them up from all over the floor ever...

Vince the Prince at the studio

This weeks guest is Vincent Koreman, aka, Vince the Prince aka Sonido Del Principe. His main objective is to harvest sounds from the Arp 2500 and the EMS and use them for his cumbia project. However! whats he saying at end of the clip, its not dupstep is it?

GOto80

Anders is working on some of his material this week in our studio, aiming to incorporate the ARP 2500 in his music, trying to midisync the arp with the commodore, adding some vocal tracks.

We love the big screen! And the scrolling numbers on it, its archaic in its own way, matching well with the synths.

AND, after working very hard at our studio in semi tropical temperatures this week, here's some pre-tracks, in rough unedited form, but good for tasters.

Meet James Rubery, one of the architects of the cem studio, doing a investigative maintenance round of the studio. Here he is counting to 35, i think... that is, things to fix on the mixing desk, pan pods mostly...

Working on the Serge

Floris van Hoof is a regular at unregular intervals here at the studio, he is a typical DIY person, building his own sound devices, movie-making and easily at home with complex but logical patches such as this one on the Serge.

midi and analogue synths

Exciting times at the studio as the midi to cv implementation is taking shape. At the moment there's a set up for the EMS (putney) and MS 20 (korg). Now you can sit and compose on your pc music for these synths just as you would for your soft synths, but the studio machines sound brutal.

below is an little example of a demo setup. the putney has a relative range of 3 three octaves, depending on where you start, the MS 20 is another case to study.

Never a dull moment

These are the contestants for our bi-annual "ARP 2500 fast patching competition". receiving their first lecture and demo on analoge synthesis by Dr Simonis and Herr B.
Well not really, but a growing number of schools send their students over to visit our studios, where they do get a short introduction into music in general, old machines and weird sounds in particular. Nothing wrong with that.
